INDEPENDENT ARTIST and EDUCATOR

Kevin Coggins is a mainstay drummer living in the San Francisco Bay Area where he has been known for decades as a performer, educator, author and community supporter. His involvement in live music is recognized through performing at all types of music venues including festivals, concerts, corporate events, churches, local shows and in educational settings.

As an educator, Kevin has been teaching for 30+ years through private lessons, in public schools, public and private workshops and seminars and as the faculty drum instructor at the School of the Blues, based in San Jose, CA. 

Performance experience includes touring with national and internationally known artists, recording and performing with artists on original projects, working with tribute bands, dance bands, worship bands, theatrical shows and cover bands as well as live television and radio.

Music styles for teaching and performing include Blues, Rock, R&B, Funk, Roots Rock/Americana, Worship/Praise, traditional and contemporary Country, Jazz, World Beat, drum line, orchestral/ concert band and percussion ensemble.

Kevin also shares his passion and knowledge about drums through writing instructional books and articles about drums and drumming, maintaining a drum repair shop, collaborating with fellow vintage drum collectors and providing his services as a Drum Coach and Mentor to novices and professionals alike whether for stage performing, studio recording, for schools and organizations and for anyone seeking advice and information about drums and how they function in music and the rhythm of daily life.
